We will end with seated relaxation & breath /body awareness.

I invite you to slow down & be mindful, after all it's Monday ! To help ease you into your week & bring you to the present moment, we start our practice by "settling in", taping into breath & body awareness. This class will be at a slow & mindful pace, but this doesn't mean it's not challenging at times. As we link breath & movement, we will build heat from the core (our personal powerhouse) and tap into all the support systems within our body. Next, standing and balance postures will be explored. To complete our practice, there will be plenty of time to relax, restore & renew in Savasana. Modifications will be offered to those in need, reminding you to honor your body at all times, as it changes within each moment.
For those interested, 15 minutes of mindful-meditation will be offered.

Ashtanga yoga is a physically demanding practice involving a series of asanas, or postures, vinyasa, the synchronization of movement and breath, and trishtana, attention to posture, breathing, and focus as founded by K. Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga literally means “eight-limbed yoga” and according to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, is the spiritual path of internal purification leading to revelation of Universal Self. The purification of body occurs with practice by building heat and eliminating toxins through sweat, making the body strong and healthy. According to Jois, a strong and healthy body steadies the mind such that one can pursue and grasp the other limbs of yoga.
This class is open to all levels and is a teacher led practice. The first half of the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga will be the focus of the class with accessible second series postures included. More advanced students are encouraged to practice at their level of experience and newer students will receive cuing and hands on assistance as they learn the practice.
What a great way to begin your day! Each class begins and ends with breath/body awareness, allowing time to check in, connect & settle. After connecting to mind & body, we will warm up with Gentle flows & variations of Sun Salutations. In this class you will take your time, being mindful of each movement of the body and how each movement generates from the core, focusing on proper form and alignment. This class blends Yoga postures, upper body strength training, lower body sculpting, balance and mat core exercises using a variety of equipment, such as hand weights, stability balls, resistance bands and more. Each student is encouraged to honor their own fitness level and work at their own mindful pace. Modifications are given to tailor each students individual needs. Class ends with a gentle stretch & plenty of time to relax & renew in Savasana
